Freshly roasted coffee beans

The smell of freshly roasted coffee beans invokes wonderful memories. Growing up in Papua New Guinea, known as 'The Land of the Unexpected', I have had a sense of adventure instilled in me.  No two days are ever the same in Papua New Guinea.  The only thing to expect is the unexpected.

On a trip back to Papua New Guinea I bought a drawing on the side of the road.  It shows two Birds of Paradise, perched on a coffee bush, eating coffee berries. The  artist wrote on his drawing in pidgin english saying that the two birds ate the sweet coffee berries which they loved and then ate a mouse before getting married.  The story had me hooked until I read the part about the mouse.  It transpired that the artist that I bought this drawing from on the side of a dusty road was PNG's most eminent artist, Sir Mathias Kauage.  I gave this drawing to my then boyfriend, and now husband (fortunately, as I love that drawing) as a gift.. it has pride of place on our wall. 

Having travelled extensively across Asia, North America, Brazil and Continental Europe, I settled in the UK which has been my home for the last 20 years. I love to travel, trying coffee everywhere that I go. I love trying new coffees from different countries, regions and roasters.  I want to bring that sense of adventure and possibility to every coffee lover in the UK. Everyone should enjoy creating new memories and invoking past ones.  Coffee is a delicious way of doing it. 

I began my journey by sourcing and partnering with one of the best independent coffee roasters in the UK.  My coffee beans are not any old coffee beans. The Special in 'Speciality' Coffee is because they are the best quality Arabica beans. Only the highest quality beans make it through to claim that title! I care a lot about how coffee tastes, and I want to make sure that every bag of beans makes you happy.  The process and the impact to all parties involved is just as important to me.

My Plans for the Future

I want to make great coffee accessible to everyone in the UK. Easy to find, easy to choose, easy to buy and wonderful to drink!  Oh, and I will be doing my utmost to add some Papua New Guinean coffee for you to try.  It's amazing.
