Confused Between Your Cortado and Your Cappuccino?
Most people have heard of a cappuccino but how does it compare to a cortado? Both are based on espresso (this may need explaining in another blog post if you're new to the coffee stand)
Cortado
A cortado is a straightforward, no-frills espresso drink. It consists of equal parts espresso and steamed milk, typically served in a smaller glass. The 1:1 ratio allows the bold flavour of the espresso to shine through while being slightly mellowed by the milk. It's perfect for those who enjoy the taste of espresso but want a smoother edge.
Cappuccino
A cappuccino is a classic that balances espresso, steamed milk, and milk foam. Traditionally, it’s made with one part espresso, one part steamed milk, and one part milk foam. This layering creates a robust coffee flavor complemented by the creamy milk and topped with a light, frothy texture.
In short, choose a cortado if you like your espresso with a touch of milk and no foam. Opt for a cappuccino if you enjoy a balanced blend of coffee, milk, and a frothy top.
Go forth into that cafe and order yourself a Cortado with confidence! Better still, make your own at home from our selection of delicious, freshly roasted Speciality Coffee Beans!
